Privacy Policy
The short version
- Your messages, documents, record and schedule are saved in the browser on your own device. We don't keep a database of them.
- When you ask for an AI answer, what that answer needs is sent to Claude, the AI made by Anthropic, to write it. We don't keep it.
- We don't sell your information and we don't use advertising trackers.
What stays on your device
Your saved messages, the text of documents you add, incidents, your schedule settings and your Talk it through conversations are saved in your browser's storage on the device you use. They are not saved on our servers. You can save a backup file and keep it wherever you choose, such as your computer, Google Drive or iCloud.
To delete everything, open the Backup tab and choose "Delete everything on this device". Backup files you saved yourself have to be deleted where you keep them. Anyone who can use your unlocked device and browser may be able to see what is saved there.
What leaves your device, and why
- AI answers. When you tap Draft reply, Read screenshots, Talk it through, or ask for an AI summary, we send what that answer needs. That can include the messages or screenshots you added, what you want to happen, your 20 most recent record entries and your schedule settings. The text of your documents (up to 12,000 characters of each) is sent only when you name a paragraph of your order for a draft to quote. Searching your documents happens on your device, and nothing is sent. It goes through our server, hosted by Render, to Anthropic. Our server passes it straight through. It does not store it and never writes it to our logs.
- How long Anthropic keeps it. Anthropic says it automatically deletes these inputs and answers within 30 days. It can keep them longer when needed to enforce its usage policy (up to 2 years if its safety systems flag them) or when the law requires it.
- Signing in. Your email address is sent to Resend, the service that emails your sign-in link. A sign-in cookie on your device keeps you signed in. We don't keep a list of users.
- Newsletter. Only if you tick the tips-and-news box and then open your sign-in link, your email address goes to beehiiv, our newsletter service. Every newsletter email has an unsubscribe link.
- Talking instead of typing. The microphone buttons use your browser's own speech service. Many browsers, including Chrome, send your voice to the browser maker's servers to turn it into text. We never receive your audio, only the words that appear in the box. Reading text aloud uses the voices built into your device.
- Loading the page. Like any website, our host (Render), Google Fonts (for the lettering) and cdnjs (for the PDF reader) see your device's internet address when the page loads. Cloudflare runs our domain name and forwards email sent to us.
- Overuse limits. To stop overuse, our server keeps a short count of requests, tied to a scrambled form of your internet address or your account. It is kept only in memory and clears within about an hour, or when the server restarts. Our own logs record only error codes, never what you wrote.
Information about other people
You may add the other parent's messages and details about your child. Only add what you are allowed to share. Some court orders, protective orders and confidentiality agreements limit this. That information is handled the same way as everything else described here.
Children
Court Ready Texts is for adults 18 and older. It is not meant for children, and we don't knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Security
Everything sent between your device, our server and the services above travels over encrypted connections. No system is perfectly secure, so keep your device locked and your backup files somewhere safe.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update it here and change the date at the top.
